The Real Club de Golf Las Brisas has renewed its entire fleet of maintenance equipment and has decided to use John Deere equipment exclusively.

The Royal Golf Club Las Brisas in Marbella, Spain, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and recently decided to secure its own gift by accepting an offer made by local John Deere distributor Agronimer.

David Fernández, director of the Agronimer golf division, has offered the golf club a new fleet in a five-year John Deere financial agreement worth one million euros. The agreement is backed by the full maintenance cover of PowerGard. The machinery includes tees mowers, fairways and greens, compact tractors and other larger ones, Gator utility vehicles, sprayers and motobunkers. The latest hybrid electric models from E-Cut now represent 100% of the fleet of street and greens mowers in the club.

Originally created by Robert Trent Jones Sr and more recently redesigned by Kyle Phillips, the eighteen-hole course at the Real Las Golf Club currently occupies the sixth place in Spain in rating and the thirty-seventh in the hundred best courses in continental Europe by 2018 It is notable for its elevated greens, numerous bunkers and water hazards, as well as the landscaped botanical garden style that presents many rare species of plants and trees from around the world.

The team of twenty-four maintenance professionals and workshop staff is headed by Rafael González-Carrascosa, field director, who together with club director Paul Muñoz Langley have overseen an ambitious five-year multi-million dollar project to redesign and renovate the field, something that It was necessary since the original design had begun to show its age.

'We thought that a complete remodeling of the golf course was required but we needed the partners to agree on the necessary investment. A first phase was approved to renew some aspects of the first nine in 2012, and that's when the project gained credibility and the partners considered that it was necessary to make more investments,' says Paul Muñoz, director of the RCG Las Brisas. 'The final phase of the works in the last nine holes was completed in 2015, but then improvements had to be made again as serious floods in 2016 caused widespread damage and the field had to be closed for three months. However, once the partners saw what could be achieved, they moved quickly so that the whole field could be improved, and the last three holes were finished last summer.

'Everything has been addressed, from improving the lawn, the bunkers, the tees and the greens to the drainage and irrigation system, as well as relocating several holes to create a better game flow, even to redesign and redirect the routes of the buggies. for the most pleasant visitor experience,' adds Muñoz Langley. 'As a disciple of Robert Trent Jones Sr., Kyle Phillips fully understands his design philosophy for what was the architect's natural choice for the new design that is now cleaner, more open and natural. He has maintained the essence of the old course but has updated it, making it a better experience for the golfer. When you play the field now it seems that he has been here for years and you realize the great job he has done.'

'This new agreement with John Deere and Agronimer includes not only the purchase of all the equipment necessary to keep our course in perfect condition, but also ongoing training programs for operators and mechanics, customized parts management and tour assistance when necessary,' says Rafael González-Carrascosa, field director of the RCG Las Brisas. 'One of the key factors in the choice of John Deere was that we only had to deal with a supplier, a brand and a distributor that offered the right financing deal, so it made things easier. The John Deere range is complete and offers good quality engineering, as well as reliable service and support.'

'In John Deere we have proposed to work with the best fields of Spain with a comprehensive proposal that includes everything that the most demanding fields may need: training, financing, extended warranty, maintenance included and a plan to repurchase flexible machinery and decision of the field. To the advantage of having the latest technology on the golf course, and always under warranty, we must add that we can save up to 20% on the operating cost of the machinery and this is liked by both the greenkeeper and the field manager,' says Bernardino Private, Sales Manager at John Deere Ibérica. 'I am sure that thanks to this new approach in the management of the machinery fleet, many fields that used to work with a brand will give John Deere a chance.'
